All Shook Up: The Director’s Blog

0

Director Patrick Stinson with Cameron Sherill.

Patrick Stinson of Plano is this year’s Director for All Shook Up. This is Patrick’s third show with Fox Valley Repertory. His previous shows include Sleeping Beauty and last year’s Suessical. When asked what his favorite part of working with this cast was he replied with: “I love it when [the cast] create[s]. It is so cool working with kids because they aren’t afraid to try new things.” This show is much different than the other shows Patrick has directed. This is his first show that uses existing music and he says that “The authors did a nice job putting together a story that highlights the songs so well.”

And it’s true. The show encompasses many themes such as love and love lost. Elvis Presley’s songs fit the plot line so well. Patrick’s favorite song from the show is “Come on, Everybody.” It’s the fun, energetic number in the show. It features almost everyone in the cast and makes the audience smile. It truly is a riot.

Since this isn’t Patrick’s first rodeo, we asked him why he enjoys directing. “I enjoy seeing my vision come to fruition,” he says. Well, we hope your vision doesn’t disappoint for All Shook Up. You are a wonderful director and truly an asset to this show. It wouldn’t be the same without you! Thank you, Patrick!!

All Shook Up: A Mayor’s Blog

0

Hi! I’m Sara Caligiuri and I play Mayor Matilda in the Youth Ensemble’s show All Shook Up. I am a Sophomore at Rosary High School and this is my first FVR production. Before coming here to FVR I have performed in shows such as Oliver, The Little Mermaid, Hello, Dolly and a many others. My favorite was Nancy in Oliver. I had so much fun watching my character progress throughout the show. I also got to do a death scene and that was kinda fun. :)

Being here at FVR has been a real blessing. Everyone is so kind and have made an excellent first impression. I love everyone involved and have made some great friends. Playing the Mayor has been an experience. She’s a complex one, that Matilda. She is one of the most challenging characters I have ever had to portray. It has been a blast. I can’t wait to actually get on stage and perform this production!

All Shook Up: From Mom’s point of view

0

Sitting in the back of the room, my only job to be there to help out if needed, I think to my self, “What a talented group of kids I am surrounded by.” Once again I am reminded of what a wonderful opportunity FVR is providing for my son.

Caden started his theatrical journey about 2 years ago as Mike Tevee in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a FVR musical class. He then went on to perform in 3 other FVR Youth productions with “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” where he played Charlie Brown topping his list. He then had the opportunity to perform professionally with Fox Valley Rep’s production of “Around the World in 80 Days” right here at Pheasant Run this summer. Which brings us to his current endeavor, “All Shook Up.” So far this proves to be his biggest challenge yet. However, with each passing rehearsal, he continues to gain such valuable instruction and experiences. He says, “While there is a lot of hard music to learn, it is fun!”

“All Shook Up” will be performed Fridays, November 11th and 18th at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays, November 12th and 19th at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday, November 20th at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the Box Office for $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for kids 12 and younger.
