Whether it’s your own ghost sighting, a story that’s been past down through your family or simply a ghost hunt adventure, your story could win you WOMAN IN BLACK TICKETS FOR TWO AT FOX VALLEY REP! Woman in Black’s Alex Hugh Brown Blogs about his Hauntings…via magazines, that is.
In June of 2010, my grandmother Audrey Brown passed away at 89 years old. It was the first loss in my family that I’d ever experienced, but towards the end her health had been so frail that it was in some ways a relief when she passed. She was at rest, finally, and my family came together in Florida to celebrate her life.
A few months later, I arrived home from work to my Chicago apartment and discovered a magazine addressed to Audrey Brown in my mail box. Seeing her name gave me a funny feeling, especially with my address below. Somehow, her magazine subscription had been forwarded to me. The oddest part was that the magazine in question was Ebony. I also began to receive Jet on a weekly basis. My grandmother was from New Zealand.
I still receive these magazines to this day, almost a year and a half later. When I see them in my mailbox, I scroll through the headlines and try to search for messages sent to me by my grandmother from the afterlife, via the conduit of strong African American women. It’s a delightful mystery.”
